We had a weekend full of cold weather activities. Not only did we get a big snow storm, but it was also Drew's first weekend of mini mite hockey. Drew was so excited for the start of his season. He told anyone he came across that Friday was the big day and counted down the hours until his practice. The practice format was a surprise to me since I am used to the sensitivity of preschool teachers who held Drew's hand every step of the way. But, for hockey there are no introductions or first day parties, you just get on the ice and get going. The Friday practice is made up of a few age divisions so their were a lot of big kids on the ice. Drew stepped it up and was not intimidated at all. He actually scored a goal during the scrimmage at the end of the practice and was quite proud. He reenacted it several times for me when we got home. Chad and I are proud of him for earning the right to play mini mite and having the courage to skate with the big boys.

Sunday we got a big snow storm and got to spend part of the day sledding and building a snowman. Reid actually chose a nap and did not get too much playing time that day, but we were in full force today for the remaining of the snow and did more sledding together. Drew loves everything about winter. Reid loves a little bit of snow and then hot chocolate and a warm blanket. Can't say that I disagree, but I do love seeing their excitement. Drew even tried to play a little ice hockey on the driveway until the disappointing reality that in Texas it takes a lot to freeze a rink and we will have to stick to the Star Center for hockey.
