Making Memories

My favorite activity this holiday season is the start of a new Scurlock tradition, 25 family nights.  Each morning since December 1st, the kids have woken up to a small prize in their advent calendar along with a piece of paper spelling out the family activity we will be doing together that evening.  Drew gets excited to take the paper to Dad and asks, "what are we doing tonight?" I love how this alone puts the holiday emphasis on family time instead of all the hustle.  So far we have played games, made the gingerbread house, drove around to see holiday lights, watched a movie, read holiday stories, talked about the true meaning of Christmas, made ornaments, drank hot chocolate by the tree, added red bubbles and Christmas music to the kids bath time, and much more -- all four of us included. Tonight we made homemade fudge, yum!  We are so blessed to have these precious times and memories as a family.
