A Little Something About Our Little Somethings

Well, here I am older, not really wiser, and with a preschooler and a toddler. Where does the time go? Every day, though a lot the same, is filled with memories. I am blessed to stay home and play a large part in my children's' lives. I get the good stuff and the bad, but I wouldn't give any of it up (okay, maybe the fits and the whining, but who wouldn't). I've learned a lot over the past 4 years about being a mom, a friend, an educator, a coach, a nurse and a playmate. I owe all my knowledge to the kids of course. They are great teachers, and they too are great friends. Who knew that a laugh with a child could be so fulfilling. Thanks to Drew and Reid for giving me plenty of those. From Drew literally searching my hair for the eyes in the back of my head ("mom, how did you see me when you weren't even looking this way") to Reid's version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", it's all hilarious and good recovery from a dose of whining. Here is a little about each kiddo as they have grown another year older.

All About Drew

First the stats: Height- 40 inches (45%)

Weight - 35 lbs (43%)

Favorites: Airplanes, weather, sports, fishing, country music, boats, sharks, shows about sharks or the weather, Wipeout, America's Funniest Home Videos, pasta, chocolate milk & ice cream.

Dislikes: Loud noises, spicy food & sleep.

Personality: Drew is a little more loud and active than he was at three. I would say "he is all boy." He likes to jump off things, growl, tackle etc. He also loves to be laughed at. Drew is still very inquisitive, especially when it comes to anything related to science like the weather or animals. He asks often to check the radar for storms. He is a good listener in school type situations. Drew is confident and stands up for himself to other kids, which is good and bad depending on the occasion. He likes to play with his friends, although is slowly becoming a little too rough to play with his girlfriends. He loves to cuddle and is protective of my feelings and of his sister. When he is tired or wants a break, Drew crawls up in his favorite chair with his blankets and stuffed puppy to watch TV and prefers nature shows to cartoons. Favorite thing he has said lately, "Mom, do I have to go to work when I turn 4?"

All About Reid

Stats: Height - 35 inches (71%)

Weight - 25 lbs (30%)

Favorites: Shoes (flip flops preferred), soccer, hip hop music, riding her scooter, books, swinging, makeup and nail polish, picking out her clothes (but NO dresses!), laying in her bed (by herself, except her requests every night to "sleep with me" or "lay with me" as in laying in her bed with her), going for walks, spicy foods like salsa and tacos, guacamole, spaghetti, chocolate milk, dancing and drawing.

Personality: Reid is the silliest and most strong willed of the family. She has an opinion about a lot of things and lets it be known. She does not like to be "little" and wants to do everything Drew does even if she is not physically able to. She does not like to be in the passenger seat, literally and figuratively. Reid loves to stay active and much prefers walking to riding in the stroller or in the car. She has a love for sports just like her brother, but also loves dancing, fixing hair and painting her nails. She won't wear dresses or anything that hangs below her knees, but loves frilly shirts and sparkly shoes. Her favorite thing to wear though is a pair of underwear and her flip flops. Gotta break this habit! Reid does not like so share with anyone, unless she wants something of yours in return. She also does not like to snuggle, but enjoys laying next to mom or dad without touching. Reid does, however, love to be held when she is hurt or sleepy. She also loves to sing. Reid is not much of a TV watcher and only has the patience to watch a couple of minutes before she gets up to do something else. She will lay in her bed talking to her animals and flipping through books for a long time before bed or in the morning. She is a late sleeper and is starting to give up naps. Reid is on her way to being 100% potty trained, except when she is feeling tired or lazy, then she requests a pull up.

I am so proud of both of these kids. They are tremendous little people with great thirst for all parts of life. Thanks for all the laughs, cuddles, sticky hugs & sloppy smooches. Love you Drew & Reid so much!
