Birthdays are a big deal at the Scurlock house. It's more like "birth week" than "birth day" around here. We started celebrating Drew's 3rd birthday Friday afternoon with a special outing with just Mom and Dad, sans baby sister who stayed at home with our babysitter. Drew was so excited to get a little special attention and head out ice skating. We had fun skating hand in hand around the rink. Drew is such a great kid and seems to really enjoy quality family time. You can see pure joy in Drew's face in the picture of the three of us. I think he loved every moment! After skating we went to the "sports store" to pick out a new hockey stick and puck and let Drew peruse every sport section at his leisure. We looked at all the hockey and baseball equipment for as long as we could. It was really nice to have some special time with our little man, but at the end of the afternoon I was missing Reid and Drew admittedly was to.

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to Powerkids Sports for Drew's birthday party with his friends. If you know anything about Drew, it's that he is 100% happy if he is playing sports. So it was not surprising that Drew wanted a baseball party. Drew and his friends played several sports, games and jumped on the trampoline. Drew enjoyed playing the sports the most and was not quite as enthusiastic as all the girls when it came to the games. This is definitely an inherited trait.
After playing, everyone chowed down on hot dogs and cake (Drew said the cake was his favorite part). The kids were all so cute and had a great time. Drew even had an opportunity to show off for the ladies and was given a gold medal. When we got in the car Drew said, "it was so fun that my friends came for my birthday" and it really was.

After naps, Drew and Chad headed to the pond for a little guy time and fishing with Drew's new tackle box (thanks Papa!). It must have brought him luck because the boys caught several fish and were happy as clams when they walked in the door.
