Despite Chad fighting a cold, we still managed a fun filled weekend. Saturday morning was our elementary school's first annual carnival and it was a blast. They had face painting, train rides, bounce houses, games, food and a petting zoo. It was such a fun morning for us. Drew started the carnival off by having Elmo painted on his hand, then we headed over the the train ride. I think this was Drew's favorite and we rode it twice. It was a cute little train that make a circle around the school and tooted its horn. Next we headed to the petting zoo and Drew had fun petting the goats, pigs, donkey and bunny. He preferred the animals in order of least intimidating so the donkey, despite its calm nature, came in last. We topped the morning off with a carnival hot dog that we shared on our walk back home. We were both pretty tired by the time we got home. After a brief nap, we packed up the car and headed to the Dallas Arboretum for Drew's friends second birthdays. The kids had a blast running around the garden looking for butterflies and rolling in the soft grass. Sunday was a little more low key since we were all worn out from the day before. Luckily Chad started feeling better. All in all it was a nice weekend.
This morning Drew and I decided to head up to our local fire station to check out the trucks. If you have kids and haven't done this, its well worth the trip. The fire man showed Drew the fire truck and let him climb in side and pretend to drive. Then he got a tour of the inside of an ambulance and the fire man gave Drew a hat and fire badge. What a nice free activity it was. Drew loved the trucks and wore his hat most of the morning.
Not too much in store for the rest of the week. We are just hoping for more nice weather!
